About · Vixel·2026 —
Building the frontier of playable video.
Vixel is the AI-native platform for playable video — a new format that lives between the feed people scroll all day and the games they reserve weekends for. Two surfaces ship today: Vixel Stories and Vixel Worlds. One Vixel underneath.
“The video you watch should also be a place you can step into.”
— Vixel thesis, 2026
Every format we built before this — film, video, games — made an assumption about its audience and held to it. You sat down for a movie. You stood up for a game. You scrolled for a feed. The viewer was the variable; the medium was fixed.
Playable video is the first format where the medium bends back. Each minute reads its viewer. The story is about someone in particular — and adapts before they look up. It's the feed that talks back.
The math behind making that has changed by an order of magnitude in the last twenty-four months. We saw it before most. We've made the math new — and we're building the platform underneath it.
What we believe
The story is about the viewer.
Every other format treats the audience as a constant. Playable video treats the audience as the variable — the protagonist, the editor, the reason the next minute exists. The medium is downstream of who's watching.
Categories are won by platforms, not by hits.
A great title doesn't win the next format. The runtime underneath it does. We are not in the business of shipping a single great show, world, or companion — we're in the business of the layer they all live on.
Between the scroll and the game.
Short-form video is the largest distribution surface on earth. Full games are the largest premium engagement format. Between them is a gap the industry has tried and failed to fill for fifteen years. We think it's finally open.
Who
Founded by writers, engineers,
and people who keep their save files.
Vixel is based in San Francisco — researchers, designers, and engineers backed by 20+ years of senior leadership across Electronic Arts, Tencent Games, Sony, Blizzard, Ubisoft, TikTok, and Adobe Research.
