Let color connect the worlds

Soft pinks, pale blue and cream give the changing spaces a shared visual language. The settings can change quickly because the palette keeps bringing us back to the same dream. Use a small, deliberate family of colors instead of inventing a new look for every cut.

Change the scale, keep a point of connection

Oversized surroundings and an enormous cat make an ordinary human figure feel newly small. The recognizable person anchors the fantasy. A change in scale creates surprise; a familiar face or silhouette helps the viewer stay oriented.

Cut on a visual idea

A corridor, a butterfly, steps in the clouds and a miniature room become brief discoveries rather than a long explanation. Look for a shared movement, direction or shape to motivate the next cut. Give the most striking image enough time to register before moving on.

Take the idea into your next film

For your own original scene, choose one familiar starting place and three impossible variations. Keep the protagonist and palette recognizable. Write down what each cut reveals before generating anything, then test a single transition first.
